WELCOME > WHO DDMAAC SERVES
VISION: Through DDMAAC, Stage Left cultivates grassroots conduits of cultural affinity, artistic autonomy and disability justice in Canada's Deaf/ Disability/ Mad Arts domain, and promotes the collective interests of artists whose lived experience of disablement advances artistic and aesthetic non-normativity.
NOT YOUR NORMAL NASO: A Justice vs inclusion-BASED approach to arts advocacy
Due to limited resources, DDMAAC is first and foremost in service to the deaf/ disabled/ mad artists who contribute the most (unpaid) labour to the equalization of the national DDMSCT* Arts domain.
Because of Covid-impacts, and the utter lack of equitable response to them, DDMAAC is going hard on disability justice and disability justice ONLY. Too many of us have been "building back better" – for decades now. Yet disability inequity in the professional arts sector is increasing.
So please stop contacting us about your access and inclusion initiatives.
Access is merely a condition for DDMSTC Arts, not the goal.
With all due respect. Truly. We thank you for your contributions and your interests in getting involved in DDMAAC. We just really need to invest our own efforts into shoring up a still under-represented group of us.
We appreciate how many of you are finding us, and making good use of our pubic resources. Unfortunately, if you have not contributed directly to our ongoing disability justice labour, please do not expect us to be able to support you - individually. We already support hundreds of artists each year, and are at our Covid-impacted capacities.
We do our best, and then some; but we also have to safeguard our own health & wellness right now, as none of our governments are electing to do so.
